INSTRUCTIONS
  • Timeframe: Week 08 – Week 10
    Deadline: Week 10
    You will need to produce one (1) animated composition, featuring one original subject matter of your own design, based on the theme given.
    You will also need to utilize the composition technique that has been taught, including background, middle-ground and foreground.
    You will need to use the puppet pin tool in Adobe After Effects to produce your looping animation, for about 8 – 10 seconds.
    Last but not least, you will need to incorporate your design into merchandise template for HONOR (template is provided)

Tarot cards, which originated in Europe, inspired me to determine the theme of this assignment and draw a sketch.I chose the high priestess cards for my creation.
Then I decided to use a purple-toned color scheme to showcase its mysterious features.

I chose a solemn scene where a mysterious priestess was conducting divination or prayer. The columns on both sides and the discs behind the figures emphasized the symmetry of the picture. The middle board, which was like three cards, had the symbols of the sun and the moon, highlighting the identity of the priestess.
Additionally, I also added cloud-like textures to the left and right ends of the picture, further enhancing the mysterious atmosphere of the scene.

In this illustration, I chose a symmetrical composition. The buildings on both sides of the environment form a symmetry，with the aim of guiding the gaze to the  character in the high priestess center.

Accessories Design

I took it as the original pattern and used ps tools to make several solid works, including mobile phone cases, badges, water cups, etc.

I used the AN tool to make a short animation of the moon, clouds, and stars




REFLECTION
Through this task, I learned the importance of the overall environment layout and shadow depiction, and the symmetrical typesetting also contributed a lot to this work.  Driven by the beauty of the overall picture, I was able to create this high priestess.
